SAND / GRAVEL
Sand and Gravel are the most basic form of turbidity removal, filtering down to a nominal 40-60
micron. Sand and gravel sediment filters are used when the water appears visibly cloudy.
The media works by creating a dense bed for the water to pass though, as water passes the media
traps small particles. When the media is backwashed, it will release the trapped particles to drain.
Due to the weight of the filtration media, to lift the bed and get an adequate and suitable backwash,
you will need more flow rate for backwashing than service.
All sizes of Gravel and filter sand are available on request.

GAC GRANULAR ACTIVED CARBON
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) has many uses, mainly for chlorine reduction in water, but also for
the removal of taste and odour.
Wateq stock coconut carbon, bitumous bone char, and acid washed carbon for the best performance
results. Carbon can also remove some organic colour, but should be specified at 20% of the normal
flow rate to achieve the best colour removal results.
Carbon comes in 50 Litre bags with 20 bags to a pallet
